cquisitions
I. Purpose
The Acquisitions Department is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing the vital materials, technology, and logistical assets necessary to fuel construction, expansion, and sustainability efforts. Without raw inputs, there is no output—acquisition is the spark that ignites infrastructure, defense, commerce, and survival.
Operating at the intersection of exploration, trade, and strategic resource management, the department’s reach extends across planetary surfaces, asteroid fields, salvage zones, black markets, and interstellar supply lines. It is both the supplier and the broker of a settlement’s future.
II. Core Functions
- Material Procurement
- Secure metals, fuel, water, polymers, composites, and rare elements through mining, salvage, trade, and contractual sourcing.
- Asset Recovery & Salvage
- Conduct salvage operations on derelict ships, outposts, or battlefields; assess value, extract usable components, and clear wreckage.
- Vendor & Trade Management
- Establish and maintain trade agreements with vendors, miners, transporters, and black-market contacts to ensure supply chain flexibility.
- Strategic Resource Planning
- Forecast resource needs based on project scopes and operational cycles; prioritize acquisition targets accordingly.
- Storage & Distribution Oversight
- Coordinate with Logistics and Infrastructure for optimal resource storage, security, and internal distribution to build sites or operations.
- Market Intelligence
- Monitor local and regional markets, supply availability, price trends, and political risks that could impact sourcing efforts.
- Special Asset Acquisition
- Pursue high-value or rare technological items, alien artifacts, or prototype equipment via exploration, intel-led raids, or covert deals.
III. Strategic Objectives
- Ensure continuous supply of essential materials for construction, repair, and operation of all base systems.
- Minimize resource bottlenecks through preemptive acquisition and diversified sourcing.
- Maintain adaptability through legal, grey, and black market acquisition channels as mission scope evolves.
- Protect and expand the strategic resource footprint of the organization across multiple sectors.
IV. Departmental Structure
- Extraction & Salvage Division – Executes field missions for mining, salvage, and wreck recovery.
- Trade & Procurement Division – Manages vendor contracts, price negotiations, and legal compliance (or circumvention).
- Market Intelligence Division – Gathers intel on market trends, competition, and acquisition opportunities.
- Strategic Resources Division – Focused on rare or mission-critical assets, black ops procurement, and long-range sourcing.
- Logistics Interface Division – Coordinates inbound resource delivery and handoff to Infrastructure, Manufacturing, and Defense teams.
